Russian Zebra choco-cake

This is amazing and funny at the same time! I’ sitting now in the kitchen and with the one eye watching Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel-Aviv (Israel) and with the other eye see the screen of my computer. I’m writing this post so logically cannot hear what they say, but it doesn’t matter to me. I simply enjoy the pic)))))))))))

Last few weeks somehow I was in a mood for cooking and baking. Today I want to introduce to you the recipe of a cake our family likes the most. I found lots of this recipe on Russian forums for food and cooking. It seems to be Russians love such cakes. This is because I called it Russian.

You need:

For batter

  • 5 eggs
  • 360 g of sugar
  • 100 g of butter
  • 200 g of sour cream
  • 250-300 g of flour
  • 1 package of baking powder and vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbsp of cocoa powder

For icing

  • 2 tbsp of sour cream
  • 50 g of butter
  • 3 tbsp of sugar
  • 2 tbsp of cocoa powder
  • 4-5 walnuts

How to make:

1. Mix both sugars and eggs with a mixer. Add melted butter and sour cream.

Add baking powder and flour.

2. Divide the batter into two parts.

Add in one of the bowls cocoa and mix good.

3. Take a round baking tray. Put the batter in parts to make layers.

4. Bake for 30 minutes at 170 -180 °C.

For icing put the butter in a bowl on the cooker and melt it with sugar and sour cream. Add cocoa and mix good together. Let it cool.

Spread the paste on the cake and put walnuts above.

Ready!

The layers look like the stripes of a zebra and gave the cake its name.

Enjoy 🙂
