My hand creams review – AHAVA, Pyunkang Yul, Roger et Gallet, Hildegard Braukmann, DUCRAY, Frudia, Louis Widmer, Kamill

All the thoughts and opinions in my posts are my own at the moment. The posts and reviews aren’t sponsored yet and the links I share aren’t affiliate links yet. For the case IF I’ll mark the sponsored/affiliate content.

For a long time I was looking for a good hand cream and bought some very good pieces I want to review today. Hopefully it will be helpful for you girls, if you’re also searching for a good hand care.
First, I think I have to say what was important for me.
On hands I have dry, sometimes cracky skin from much washing (I wash my hands permanently, deal with agressive washing stuffs during housework and even gloves cannot help always). I’m 38, so I’m looking for a remedy with anti-aging qualities. And last, but not least I’m looking for a cream with sun protection factor (SPF).
OK then, I am looking for creams which:

  • are moisturizing
  • are nourishing
  • don’t leave much grease and don’t dry the skin
  • absorb quick
  • don’t irritate/Hypoallergenic
  • have anti-aging qualities like Q10 or something like that
  • soothe and smooth the skin
  • are more or less naturally, I mean it’ll be good to find something organic, but if not the cream shouldn’t contain too much chemical stuff like SLS, parabens etc.
  • generous amount
  • affordable price

I have to say I didn’t buy all these creams at once, but during several months, so I had much time to test them out. Some of the are very long lasting and some not.
You know I live in Germany now and I use a lot of German cosmetics., but I tried to find and test remedies from different brands, not only German. Want to know more about? Read the post!

Anti-age and SPF

DUCRAY  – Melascreen (France)

My first hand cream with SPF of French cosmetic brand DUCRAY I’ve already reviewed here on my website. What eslse is to add, that I’m very pleased with it till now and will definitely repeat it again. For the full review click here: Ducray hand cream

Hildegard Braukmann – Kräuter Handcreme/Herbal hand cream with calendula (Germany)

A German brand which produces natural cosmetic (not organic, but maybe they produce some organic cosmetics too). I’ve already used some of their products and was pleased with their quality, so I thought why not and bought this one.

Amount: 100 ml

Price: About 10 €

Where to buy: It seems to be that they sell only in German speaking region, but you can visit the English version their website:

Aqua, Pentylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glycerin, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Propylene Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetyl Palmitate, Panthenol, Sorbitol, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Allantoin, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract, Parfum, Tocopherol, Sodium Phytate, Linalool, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Extract, Melissa Officinalis (Balm Mint) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Sambucus Nigra (Sambucus) Extract, Thymus Serpyllum (Wild Thyme) Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Tilia Cordata (Linden) Flower Extract, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate.

Key ingredients: grape seed oil, calendula flower extract and allantoin.
without: mineral oils, parabens, PEG, aluminum, alcohol, artificial fragrances
contains: silicones, palm oil

What should it do
Moisurize, repair, care, soothe and soften cracky skin on hands and reduce redness. Grape seed oil and panthenol are known for their anti-aging qualities. Calendula flower extract and allantoin heal the skin. For daily use for hands. Can be used as a foot cream too.

My experience

I like this cream. First of all it absorbs very quick and fully. Would say in a minute there is no oil or grease on hands and I had dry and soft skin at the same time. Very light creamy texture. Has a decent scent of herbs. Not so my taste, but it’s Ok.

The greatest benefit: you can work or do want you want without waiting like by some other creams till they absorb. On the other hand it moisturizes well. After applying the skin is soft, smoothe and hydrated. I had no irritations so far. I mix some drops of cold pressed oil with it and it works excellent. Will definitely repeat again. For those of you who will travel to Germany and want to try some of German cosmetics I highly recommend this piece.

Korean hand creams

Frudia  – My orchard hand cream (Korea)

I’ve already reviewed Frudia hand creams. Read the whole post here: FRUDIA Blueberry Hydrating Cleansing Gel and My orchard hand creams review

Pyunkang-Yul  – A Therapy hand cream garden mint (Korea)

Amount: 75 ml

Price: about 12 €

Where to buy:

Water, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dipropylene Glycol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Steareth-21, Dimethicone, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Camellia Seed Oil, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Cymbopogon Flexuosus Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Olus Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Stearate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, CI 19140, CI 15985, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
Made with 9 basis oils and 5 aroma oils. Key ingredients: shea butter and sweet almond oil.

What should it do: Nourishing and moisturizing, soothe and refresh the skin without leaving an oily grease.

My experience: A very creamy butter-like texture. No wonder it contains Shea Butter and coconut oil (butter). Spreads light and feels very nice on skin with a menthol-like cooling and refreshing feeling.

Not pleasant: doesn’t absorb quick and leaves some fat on hands. Very pleasant: has a sweet herbal scent that lasts for a long time. Mosturizes well enough and that it is nourishing I think you’ll get, if you see the long list of natural oils and extracts it contains. Nevertheless I didn’t work for me, namely that it didn’t smooth and repair, but made the skin red and wrinkly. I have a suspicion that it was an allergic reaction on some of the herbs. I don’t think I’ll buy it again (What a pity! I really like it!). But anyway, the cream is good and we are all different. What wasn’t suitable for X, will suit to Y.

AHAVA  – Deadsea water mineral hand cream prickly pear & moringa (Israel)

Amount: 100 ml

Price: About 16,99 €

Where to buy: On AHAVA official website ,

and it is a very well known cosmetic brand they sell it everywhere. Simply google it.

There are five versions of it in green (prickly pear and moringa), orange (mandarin and cedarwood), pink (cactus and pink pepper), blue (sea kissed) and lila (spring blossom) tubes. Don’t be irritated, if you don’t find prickly pear and moringa amoung the ingredients. The creams are only perfumed with scents of prickly pear and moringa, mandarin and cedarwood etc.

(INCI): Aqua (Mineral Spring Water), Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Ceteareth-30, Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Propanediol (Corn derived Glycol) ,Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Maris Aqua (Dead Sea Water), Dimethicone, Parfum (Fragrance), Allantoin, Limonene, Linalool, Citral, Geraniol, Citronellol.

Hypoallergenic, Vegan, Paraben-free
Key ingredients: Dead Sea Water (for hydration), Allantoin (healing cracked skin) and Witch Hazel Water (revitalizing and smoothing).

What should it do: nourish itchy skin, soften rough skin, hydrate and moisturize dry skin.

My experience; I am really excited! One of the best hand creams I’ve ever used!.
A light creamy texture. Similar to Hildegard Braukmanns cream, but a bit more rich and fat.

First I found the scent really aweful (I’m simply not a fan of perfumed hand creams), now I can live with it and I think I even started to like it.
Always important for me and a plus point – very short ingredients-list.
Very well moisturizing and nourishing. Very soft hands after applying. Smoothes the skin. Really heals and repairs crack skin. The only Con for me was that it absorbs not quick and leaves for the first couple of minutes some grease on hands, but I like this cream so much that I can deal with it.
Great, AHAVA convinced me! Looking foward to testing the other four, though they’re not cheap. Highly recommend.

Very light texture. Unfortunately too small amount, Spreads good, smells like paradise. Turns dry, dehydrated skin to soft, hydrated and silky smooth in just a moment. Simply love it! No words to describe, just try it! Highly recommend.

Won’t buy it again

Louis Widmer – Hand cream for dry hands (Switzerland/Swiss)

Amount: Normal size – 50 ml. I bought a bigger tube with 75 ml.

Price: About 7 €

Where to buy:

Aqua, Decyl Oleate, Isopropyl Myristate, Isopropyl Isostearate, Urea, Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Polyglyceryl-3 Ricinoleate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Paraffin, Glycerin, Magnesium Stearate, Cera Microcristallina, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Magnesium Sulfate, Retinyl Palmitate, Parfum, Dibutyl Adipate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Collagen Amino Acids, Linalool, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Limonene, Geraniol, Tocopherol, Lactic Acid, Pantolactone, Hexyl Cinnamal, Amyl

Key ingredients: Urea for hydrating, Argan oil for nourishing, Lactic acid for rejuvenating

What should it do: Repairs, cares and protect dry skin on hands. Rejuvenates cracky hands and makes the skin soft. Soothes red and irritated skin. Best time to use at night. The hands should be creamed good enough and it is advised to wear cotton cloves above for better effect.

My experience: What should I say! I didn’t use products of this brand before, so I cannot say are they good or bad. I don’t say for the whole brand, but for me this one piece – simply sucks! First of all it has a very fat and heavy consistency, but the texture is very light at the same time – like a thick emulsion.

It doesn’t absorb at all and stays like a fatty and greasy film on the hands. Everytime I applied it, I simply wanted to rinse it off again and did it finally. The scent is not nice, too chemical and long lasting. Ick!
Good points: gives a refreshing feeling after applying, and makes the skin soft.
They suggest to put some cotton gloves after creaming and use it better at night, but the scent… Simply wasn’t able to bear it. Tried to apply it two or three times before going to bed and next morning the skin was even more dry then before. Dislike!

Low budget

Kamill – Hand and nail cream (Germany)

Amount: in jar 150 ml

Price: in our drugstores the price is very low by 0,95 €

Where to buy: even more amount

Without dyes, parafin and mineral oil
Contains alcohol

What should it do: For normal skin (but it’s good for dry skin too)
Soothing, protecting, moisturizing, rejuvenating

have already finished, very long lasting

My experience: Best low-budget hand cream I’ve ever used. It really works. Con: contains alcohol, but it doesn’t disturbe me much. I had no feeling it dries the skin out. Makes the skin soft and hydrates well, Soothes irritations.

Have I found what I was looking for? – YES! Which of them am I going to use next for sure: Hildegard Braukmann, DUCRAY, Frudia an Roger et Gallet. BTW, Roger et Gallet has a wide range of hand creams and gels. Maybe next time I’ll try something with another scent.

Stay beautiful 😉
