Would you like a cup of tea? – Benton Deep Green Tea Toner and Lotion review

Hello again, dear friends! Today I’m going to invite you to a cup of tea, green tea and share my experience with Benton’s Green Tea line. Just a moment, Now I remember something like the British guys drink only black tea for 5 o’clock.  Anyway!

The Greean tea line contains a toner and a lotion till now, but the products are so good, that I hope they will continue with the line and come out with a cream or a cleanser or a sheet mask too.
I have to say, I really fell in love with them and placed them amoung my must-haves for every season and day time.

As I mentioned above, the line contains only two products: a toner and a lotion. Last spring I was looking for some light creams and toners for summer. My skin is combo in Fall/Winter and tends to be oily during hot season. This is because I decide to use lotions and emulsions in summer instead of heavy creams and recommend this to everyone with oily skin. So I thought something with a light texture should be, started my search and found these two nice pieces.

Well, I was looking for a toner and a lotion:

  • suitable for oily skin and not comedogenic
  • suitable for impure skin, that means to fight impurities, reduce redness, calm inflammations
  • moisturize good enough and protect from deydration
  • suitable to other cosmetic products of mine like sunscreens, make-up …
  • with good absorbtion
  • with antioxidant qualities (I’m 38 and need some anti-aging effects)
  • long lasting

Both products have a PH level 6.

Boseong is a region in South Korea with large growing areas of tea plantaions.

BENTON Deep Green Tea Toner

Brown plastic bottle of 150 ml in a green box.

Both toner and lotion have no dispenser and are sealed before first using.

The toner is watery and with yellowly colour.

Has a very pleasant scent of herbs. I wouldn’t say it smells of green tea, but how does green tea smell?

Looking at the ingredients list I get excited!

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water(50%), Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis Root Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Betaine

Key ingredients :
Green tea – rich on vitamins, minerals and antioxidants for anti-aging. Has antimicronial effect. And it listed first!
Centella Asiatica – strengthens skin barrier, revitalizes, soothes skin irritations
Hattounyia Extract – helps to fight inflammation and strengthens the skin
Hyaluronic acid – moisturizing, protects from dehydration
Willow bark – sanitizes the skin, prevent from bacteria grow which can cause inflammation, reduces sebum excess

What should it do

  • moisturize and nourish
  • refresh and soothe
  • fight free radicals, clear impurities
  • remove sebum and bring the oil-water balance in harmony
  • give the skin natural glow

My experience

Really love this toner. Reminds me of Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Toner in brown glass. Very mild in texture and has a pleseant herbal scent. I cannot say it really protects from dehydration, but absorbs quick, moisturizes very well, refreshes and soothes really good. Improves skin colour and restores skin’s natural glow, BUT by daily use only, twice a day.

As to redness and impurities the toner alone isn’t enough. Doesn’t fight impurities in my view and I also couldn’t notice reducing of sebum production during applying. The toner is good as additional care together with the lotion. So don’t expect it to remove pimples over night,

What I dislike, it is not longlasting by using a cotton pad. To feel something on the skin you should spend too much. The consistency is too watery for those who like to apply toner with hands. Another minus is that the bottle isn’t transparent and you cannot prove how much of the stuff remains inside. (My tip: hold the bottle before a lightening lamp with the uncovered side towards you, then it is possible to see how much of the stuff is in the bottle).

I had no irritation or any allergic reaction so far, but for allergic people better to prove the ingredients first.

All in all very good toner. One of my faves from now on just because it has natural compounds and not much of all these bad chemical stuff. Wanna definitely order again when this one runs out.

BENTON Deep Green Tea Lotion

The same brown plastic  bottle in a green box, but a bit smaller – 120 ml

It is a white milky like coloured emulsion, a bit runny. Unlike the cream an emulsion/lotion has a liquid consistency and can be used instead of creams for sealing all the previous steps of skin care.

The same scent like toner’s. Smells nice, but unfortunately the scent is volatile.

The ingredients list makes me excited again! Really, I don’t often find such short and pure ingredients lists except by organic products.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water (50%), Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis Root Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Betaine, Arginine, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum

Key ingredients like by toner, but not including hyaluronic acid and willow bark:
Green tea (including leaf water, seed extract, root extract and leaf extract, but I wonder if it has already leaf water, what’s then the leaf extract?), Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract and Tocopherol (Vitamin E) are antioxidants which help to revitalize and refresh dull skin.

What should it do

  • moisturize and refresh dehydrated skin
  • absorb quick without leaving an oily residue
  • soothe and revitalize stressed skin
  • remove sebum and bring the oil-water balance in harmony

My experience

This one was my first emulsion ever and worked like a charm from the first applying. Excellent moisturizer for summer because it is so lightweight and can be used solo (plus toner) without any layering. For winter not enough in my view, but together with an essence or serum will work very good.

Absorbs quick? Yes, and it melts literally into the skin. Feels very fresh. No oily residue at all and no sticky feeling. In this case the producer fullfills its promise to 100%. Evens skin tone and improves skin colour by daily using. Very good calming and soothing. The skin feels refreshed, moisturized and nourished for a long time. I cannot say it fights impurities and inflammation, but is an excellent additional care. For example, by using agressive treatments, suits very good to soothe the skin.

Behaves very good under every kind of make-up. Very good compatible with other care. I had no problems to use it with another skin care products.

Its bottle has also a nearly whole coverage like the toners and it’s difficult to see how much of it is still there. Like I wrote above, hold the bottle before a lightening lamp then it is possible to see. In opposite to the toner, the lotion is very longlasting. I was surprised how much of it remained in the bottle and I’ve been using it very often since last spring, but I still have more than the half in the bottle. Though it has no dispenser, I haven’t any difficulty to get the stuff out, because of its watery consistency.

No irritation or allergic reaction, Not comedogenic.

The last summer I used it instead of the cream and it worked good. Wanna buy it till they stop production)

For whom?

Dry skin – In my opinion there’s not enough moisture for dry skin using only both products, but add some hydrating essence and serum for every season. In winter better to use a hydrating cream after lotion. In dry hot climate add hydrating mists into your care.

Oily/Impure skin –  (for impure skin only as additional care) I think could be very well used (toner & lotion) solo without serum and cream in summer. In winter is better to add some serum between them. If you live in regions with very cold snow or in very dry hot climate use layering, that means toner-essence or serum (or both)-lotion-cream. Its moisturizing qualities are not enough for extreme weather in my opinion.

Sensitive/Allergic skin – prove the ingredients before using, if you know what is harmful for you.

Normal skin – Lucky guys with normal skin are free to use it like they want) with essences, serums, ampoules, creams and so on, but avoid overusing.

Stay beautiful 😉
