And this is Alba a small town in the region of Piedmont in north-western Italy. Alba means “dawn” in Italian. Maybe because the dawn in the region are extremely beautiful. BTW, a well known manufacturer is based in Alba and who it is you can guess and I’ll reveal later in the post.
In fact, Piedmont (Italian: Piemonte or Piemont) is worldwide known for its beautiful landscapes, white truffle and wine. White truffle is a sort of truffle-mushrooms, but grows below ground and not above like other mushrooms. White truffle is a delicacy and belongs to the most expensive food in the world.
But, you can ask: what has Italy and its truffles to do with K-beauty? Well, all K-beauty follower know how crazy ingredients Korean brands use for its cosmetics like bird’s nest, snail mucin, placenta, and so on. The founder of d’Alba decided for white truffle. And because truffles are mostly grown in south Europe and Italy, I think that was deciding for brand’s name.

The brand – d’Alba is a relatively young brand on K-beauty sky. It was founded about 3-4 years ago. Its products are based on white truffle. All d’Alba products are free of artificial preservatives, dyes and perfumes

d’Alba Piedmont – First Spray Mist Serum

Actually, I was looking for a mist suitable for my oily tending dehydrated skin, when the online shop where I usually buy K-beauty launched d’Alba with prices which could make my portefeuille (am in French fever) dizzy. The only one product that I found affordable was this first spray serum mist plus I got a discount from the seller.Yeahhhh) I’ve never used mists before and thought now it’s the right time and chose it and I must say it was much more that I’d anticipated.

A transparent glass bottle, too small only 50 ml, but looks luxury like all d’Alba packages I’ve seen. To the packages I’m going to say a few words more later.
This is a two-phase products, that means it contains an oily and a watery solution and should be shaked, so the both solutions blend to one. Has a very subtle scent for my nose.

The dispenser is very fine. Sprays very good and doesn’t irritate the eyes. To use not only as mist, but as part of your skin care regime after toner or essence or to fix makeup.

Ingredients:
Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, 1,2-hexanediol, Niacinamide, Sorbitol, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/leaf/stem Extract, Betaine, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Butylene Glycol, Tuber Magnatum Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Vegetable Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium Edta, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Adenosine, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Alcohol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Primula Veris Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Saussurea Involucrata Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Freesia Refracta Extract, Carbomer, Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, Arginine, Potassium Sorbate, Bixa Orellana Seed Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Tocopherol

According to the ingredients list what should it do?

First, hydrating of course – what else could be expecting from a mist, but then it is a serum mist, it has much more properties than only hydration. Second, the key ingredients white truffle, avocado oil and other herbal extracts deeply nourish and hydrate. Further, white truffle should have cell renewing properties. Adenosin is supposed to give an anti-age effect reducing fine lines and stimulating the production of collagen. Using this mist in the end should lead to a glowing and healthy skin.

My experience

I fell in love with this mist instantly. This mist is extremely good hydrating even better than some toners, so I use it mostly as toner and not as serum, I simply find it more comfortable after cleansing. (Actually I tend to use more sprays than conventional toners now.) I noticed an enormous improving of my skin colour and complexion got rosy. And yes it has slight firming effect, reduces fine lines and evens the skin. My skin felt plumper when I used it. However, I don’t know how it will deal with deeper wrinkles. And last but not least; all you guys with impure skin – Heads up! It makes, it really makes the skin purer, at least I’ve noticed this effect by me. The whole time I used it my skin got more and more purer, that means less irritations, little pimples, redness and every kind of breakouts. First, I couldn’t believe this mist is the reason for it, stopped for a while and saw the difference. Yes, it was the reason. I really cannot say how this mist will work on your skin, but for me it did wonders. Love it from now on. Highly recommend.

d’Alba Piedmont – Peptide No-Sebum Mild Gel Cleanser

Those of you who read my reviews constantly may have read my post about Cosrx Low Ph Good Morning cleanser and how I was excited about it ( and I’m still ). It also contains acids, but in a low concentration. This time I wanted to try something stronger and decided for d’Alba.

A dark green bottle of glass with a dispenser, looks noble luxury style. They offer two sizes 300 ml and 150 ml. I decided for smaller size, who knows…

It is a transparent gel, a bit runny. The scent, ohhhh…… I don’t think it’s everyone’s taste. It smells not of chemicals, but of hospital, medicine, doctor’s office… I disliked it first, but then got used to it. BTW, the good thing is, that the cleanser is very long lasting and foams good. I need only 2-3 small pumps for face, neck and chest. Simply massage and leave it for a minute for better peeling effect and then rinse off with lukewarme water. Be careful not to get it in your eyes.

The cleanser has a pH level of 5.5. For all skin types.
Cruelty-free and Vegan

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Coco-glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, TEA-Cocoyl Glutamate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Hexylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Chlorphenesin, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Betaine Salicylate, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Tuber Magnatum Extract, Saccharide Isomerate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Sodium Citrate

What should it do?

Mild gel cleanser combines several properties in one product: cleans the pores thoroughly, brightens and provides anti-age effect thank to peptides.

Salicylic acid, papaya fruit extract, citric acid, willow bark extract work as exfoliators removing dead cells from skin’s surface

White truffle extract should have rejuvenating properties renewing the skin’s cells.

Furthermore a lot of herbal extracts like chamomilla flower extract or melissa and peppermint extracts sooth and refresh.

Peptides – Young skin is tight and looks plump because the cells produce enough collagen and elastin vibes which are responsible for this plumpness. During the ageing process the skin’s ability for collagen production slows down. Peptides are protein molecules which because of their small size can penetrate deeper into the skin can stimulate collagen and elastin production.

My experience

Foams and cleans very good. Removes everything: dirt, sebum, debris etc. Exfoliates better than some of my peeling masks. After cleansing the skin feel very pure and the care products absorb better. As to the peptides and brightening, I couldn’t notice and remarkable improvement. I think it’s just because it is a cleanser to rinse-off and not a cream to stay for hours on the skin.
On the one hand the cleanser is really mild and cleans gentle enough without irritations due to its pH level of 5.5. I haven’t any and I’ve been using it since, let me see, 3-4 months. On the other hand it is very strong exfoliater for those who are just acid beginners, because it contains both AHAs and BHAs. I wouldn’t recommend this for daily use, because it can damage the lipid layer of the skin and lead to even more sebum production than before. I tried and had such experience,. Further, because of the acids it’s better to use only in the evenings. So, be careful, and don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

Packaging

At this place I want to write a few words about the packaging and what was wrong with it. Both first packages of the mist and cleanser I’ve bought had a silver seal (or watermark, don’t know how to call this) above.

After repurchasing the mist, I’ve noticed that the seal isn’t the same.

I haven’t had any problems with silver sealed products, they worked very well. But had some troubles with the mist with rounded seal. First the dispenser worked bad, I simply couldn’t push it. Second: the solution finished very quick. The silver sealed mist lasted for 2 months by nearly daily use. The mist with the round seal I finished the half within a week by not daily use. Third: I haven’t had the same good experience with the round sealed mist like with the other one. Though I hadn’t any irritations, but it simply didn’t work the same. I bought all the products by the same seller and now I am asking myself: could it be a fake? What’s your opinion? Did you have any bad experience with d’Alba?

Last but not least: the famous manufacturer I’ve mentioned at the beginning is – Ferrero. The concern has its headquater in d’Alba too. A small town with big importance for world’s economy.

Stay beautiful 😉
