Oh la la, ça sent magnifique! Enfin, j’ai trouve le parfum parfait pour moi ! I thought something like this as I first smelled this perfum and felt like flying in the air. What’s the name of the brand? – Roger et Gallet. Oh, it’s French, this is why it smells so good, what’s there else on the shelf? Don’t misunderstand, I wasn’t in perfumery and not in a cosmetic shop, but in a pharmacy. BTW this was one of the most strangest thing in western world (I was born and raised in former Soviet Union) that pharmacies here sell a lot of cosmetic. Now, I am glad about, because I find many of pharmacy cosmetic even better than conventional.

Roger et Gallet is a French cosmetic brand with long history. First founded in 1806 by Jean-Marie Joseph Farina a relative of Johann Maria Farina, the founder of Eau de Cologne. He created his own toilet water and opened own shop in Paris. But the real story of ReG began in 1862 when two counterparts, Armand Roger and Charles Gallet, took over the company and gave it its brand name we know till now. They specialized in making soaps, later came fragrances and other skin care cosmetics. In 2008 the brand was taken over by L’Oreal. Today the brand offers a wide range of cosmetic: fragrances, skin care, cleansing. Mostly for women, but there’re also some cosmetic for men and some unisex.

Perfume: Roger et Gallet – Gingembre eau freche parfumee (Ginger fresh fragrant water)

I think I found my personnal perfume for life. I do like to use several perfumes and am open to try new fragrances, but there should be always my stable fragrance.

A big transparent glass bottle of 100 ml in a dark blue box. Both in usually Roger et Gallet French chic style. Price: about 45 €.

The perfum isn’t coloured. The fragrance was created 2003 by Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. The fragrance belongs to unisex perfumes of the brand.

Top note: bergamot, neroli, Japanese ginger
Middle note: ambrette and Jamaican ginger
Base note: benzoin and musk.

Smells sweety-spicy, not heavy sugary. The heart of the composition is ginger, which gives the pefume its typical spicy character. Fresh and empowering, yet energizing. Sensual and romantic. Reminds: of bloomy gardens and sugar delights of the orient, of warmy summer sunrise and sunset, of tea time with much sweets and cakes. Smells of “One Thousand and One Nights”. Exotic and delicate at the same time.

Longlasting, especially on clothes. I think this fragrance is very well suitable for all seasons, except of hot-wet summers or regions. Ah, I am not a parfumeuse, yet, to discribe it, but who knows…

Ingredients: Alcohol, Water, Fragrance, Butyl Methoxydibonzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl, Methoxycinnamate, Propylene Glycol, Geraniol, Linalool, Limonene, Citral, Citronellol, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Farnesol, CI 14700/RED 4, CI 19140/YELLOW 5 (F,L,L B47792/1)

Roger et Gallet Gingembre Rouge – Red Ginger line: perfumed oil, pefumed soap, hand cream, hand sanitizer

After I fell in love with the fragrance I wanted more from the ginger line, but couldn’t find, so I decided to try red ginger. Red ginger line has more intensively strong scent than the ginger line. It is very sweety and heavy, so I decided not to try the fragrance itself, but look for some skin care products among the same line. The common for the whole line is of course red ginger root extract and unforgetable sweet-berry scent.

Gingembre Rouge hand and nail cream (Red ginger)

First I tried the handcream and was really fond of it. I have already written a review in the post about my handcreams.

This is a pity that the tubes of ReG’s handcreams are so small, only 30 ml.

The tube is a bit to hard and this makes it difficult to become the remainings of the cream when the tube finishes. Smells similar to other Red Ginger products. very sweet.

Price: 6 -8 € in Germany, it depends on the seller.

The cream is of white colour medium thick in consistency and creamy (a bit oily) in texture. Spreads good, takes a little time to absorb. Effect: pleasantly calming and hydrating irritated skin. A delight for cracked hands.

Ingredients:
Aqua/Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Cetyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Shea Butter, Isopropyl Palmitate, Parfum/Fragrance, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil/Sweet Almond Oil, Myristyl Myristate, Zea Mays Starch/Corn Starch, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Sorbitol, Caprylyl Glycol, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, C12-13 Alkyl Lactate, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, Sodium Hyaluronate, Linalool, Zingiber Officinale Root Extract/Ginger Root Extract, Punica Granatum Seed Oil,Citral, Geraniol, Isoeugenol, Citronellol.

Main ingredients such as pommegranate seed oil, red ginger root extract, sweet almond oil, shea butter and hyaluronic acid moisturize, nourish and care skin and nails for smooth nails and soft silky skin. For me a must-have, because it really works and it works excellent. Highly recommend.

Ginbembre Rouge huile nourrissante parfumée (Red ginger perfumed oil for hair and body)

WOW, what a delight! After I tried out the fragrance and handcream the time for an oil come. I love oils for face, body and hair. Usually I use them in my evening care rituals. Logically that I wanted this oil, but a pity it was too expensive. If i remember exactly it cost over 30 €. Little remark: Roger et Gallet is an expensive brand, near to highend, especially the perfumes. I bought all these products on SALE for 20-30% discount. For a long time I looked longinly at the shelves and oh wonder, (thanks the Almighty!) one happy day I found a bottle of this oil among dicount products. YAY – 50% discount!

It is a spray oil in a solide transparent glass bottle of 100 ml.

The oil is light in consistency and light yellowly in colour. It is heavy perfumed with the same red ginger sweet scent. For those who dislike scented cosmetic a definite drawback, because the scent lasts for a long time on the skin and on clothes. For me it isn’t disturbing at all, I like scented oils. The dipenser is very fine, so as it is giving only a small amount of oil out. If only sprayed on the skin, it takes long to absorb. For better and quicker absorbtion, slightly massage the oil into the skin. Not irritating.

For hair: spray two or three pumps on your palm and apply to wet hair, especially to the hair tips. For better combability and supple hair.

Some critic:
– no box included.
– only a few discription on the front side of the bottle
– no ingredients list to find

What’s, then, with the ingredients? On the bottle they claim only that it’s made with fruit oils. The missing ingredients were a serious matter for me enough and I made many attempts to find one online and tried to make some requests on the official websites and Instagram. What do you think? – First, there was nothing, even on Roger et Gallet’s official website! The only thing listed everywhere are some oils it is made with. Second, my request couldn’t be deliverd to the E-mail address of the brands contacts and as I decided to try with filling the cotact blank instead of an E-mail…  the same story, couldn’t be delivered. And last but not least, the third attempt, I made a request on their Instagram channel and still no answer is there.

The only thing I could find that it contains: arganoil, macadamia oil, cranberry oil and cassis oil. 96 % of the ingredients fron natural sources. Free of colorants, silicones, mineral oil. Dermatologically tested. (Source: http://www.rogeretgallet.de)

What should it do? – moisturise, nourish, soft, smooth and firm the skin.

Does it work? – Yes, it does! I’ve been using it after shower on wet skin for better absorbtion. Or spray termal water on the skin before.Transforms dry, dull skin in a night to hydrated, nourished, plump and energized. Surprises me everytime I use it, how it makes my skin firm and smoothy-soft,

Hair- Doesn’t make the hair fat, doesn’t weigh it down. I usually wash my hair in the evening and don’t blow-dry, so as I like to spead oils on my hair from scalp to the tips. Next morning the hair feels soft, not fatty and combs good, but the supple-hair-effect and shine are missing. Or should I have applied to dry hair for more shine?

Conclusion: really embellish skin and doesn’r harm the hair! Highly recommend.

Gingembre rouge perfumed soap

This soap I bought out of curiousity, how would it feel like and smell? Actually I don’t usually buy bar soaps, especially the expensive ones and ReG soaps aren’t that cheap. Price: 6-8 € a bar. There’re also available soapcoffrets containing three bars, they’re much cheaper.

The ReG soaps are still handmade produced according to the old tradition in cauldrons. Made with natural extracts cleanses gently with mild foam, leaves the skin soft without drying out. Unique rich fragrance of red ginger inebriates the senses with its sweetness.

Ingredients:
Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, Water, Glycerin, Fragrance, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium Glutamate, Diactate, Limonene, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydroxycitronellal, Citral, CI 77891 / Titanium Dioxide, Geraniol, Zingiber Officinale Root Extract/Ginger Root Extract, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Isoeugenol, Linalool, (F,L,L C211629/1)

The bar is in the small box. First there’s a foil.

Then, the plastic box.

And then the paper. OMG, this is a French Matriyoshka!

The bar is beige in colour and round, looks like a hockey puck.

Sealed with brand’s logo over. Not too big, not too small, the perfect size for a girls palm 🙂 This is not a creamy soap, but feels very buttery. And now it comes – the scent. It’s even more intensive than of the fragrance, but only if the soap is dry. After contact with water and foaming it lessens. Foams and cleanses well, the foam is very mild. After cleansing there’s a slight tightening feeling, but it’s not drying out. All in all gets a LIKE, but too expensive.

Gingembre Rouge hand and nail sanitizer

What is so important in days of corona except of hand soaps, if you’re out?? The right answer is: a sanitizer 🙂 I’ve seen it among hand creams and was intrigued, how good should it feel, after I was so fond of the hand cream.

The sanitizer has the same tube like the hand cream and amount: 30 ml. Price: 5-6 €.

Inside is a white transparent gel, medium thick and melts on the skin to water.

Smells of alcohol, but not irritating and disappears quick. After applying does not feel tacky, but absorbs very quick. The skin doesn’t feel dry or tightened, but this is very individual I guess.

Ingredients:
ALCOHOL DENAT., WATER, GLYCERIN, AMMONIUM POLYACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE, SESAMUM INDICUM (SESAME) SEED OIL, FRAGRANCE, LINALOOL, LIMONENE, ZINGIBER OFFICINALE (GINGER) ROOT EXTRACT; (F.I.L C214812/1)

In fact, alcohol is on the first place on the list. The brand claims it’s from natural source.

What should it do? – Disinfect soft and care for hands and nails. Contains sesame seed oil and glycerin to avoid skin’s dehydration.

But the sweet red ginger scent like the other products of the line is missing here, though ginger is also on the list. (this sanitizer I’ve bought only today, long after I took the front picture)

I am really excited from the brand and looking forward to try the other lines too. The only Con is the high price, but if affordable, then highly recommend.

Stay beautiful, mes belles! 🙂
